Why Not Kickstarter?

Eagle-Gryphon Games has received enough interest and pre-orders from international print partners that instead of utilizing Kickstarter to fund the printing of this new edition, we are able to move ahead to the CrowdOx pledge manager. As a result, we are proceeding directly from the pledge manager to the production of Rococo: Deluxe Edition; and are expecting to be able to deliver the game by (or before) the end of November, 2020. In addition to Rococo: Deluxe Edition, we are also offering two new titles in our Gryphon Bookshelf Series, Gangster's Dilemma (by Adrian Adamescu and Daryl Andrews) and Stolen Paintings (by Bruno Faidutti), as well as an updated 2nd Edition of Fleet: The Dice Game (by Matt Riddle & Ben Pinchback) along with its NEW expansion, Dicey Waters!

Welcome to the Rococo era. You are the owner of a distinguished tailoring business. In just a few weeks, Louis XV is hosting a Grand Ball and everyone is clamoring for you to provide them with an elegant frock coat here, a sumptuous gown there, or even a small sum to fund the great fireworks display. You quickly realize that it’s not just about your tailoring business anymore – it’s about creating a presence at the most prestigious ball of the era and the chance to gain everlasting fame and prestige.

Each turn, you will play an employee card that allows you to perform a task, such as hiring a new employee for your staff, tailoring exquisite gowns and frock coats to rent or sell, or funding some of the many decorations. However, employees are not always able to perform all tasks, so you must plan carefully how you direct them, especially as each employee grants a unique Bonus — including some that generate prestige.

The Grand Ball will end after 7 rounds with a huge fireworks display and final scoring. You will gain prestige points for the gowns and frock coats you have rented out to guests at the ball, certain employee Bonuses, and the festive decorations you have funded. Whoever has collected the most prestige at the end of the game wins.

In Rococo: Deluxe Edition, each player starts with an identical deck of Employee cards, each turn players simultaneously select 3 to use for the round. Choosing which cards to use will determine which actions are available to take. Masters can take any of the actions while Apprentices and Journeymen will be limited in the actions they can take.

The 6 different actions in the game are:

Claiming the Queen’s Favor, which can only be done with a Master or Journeyman, and grants the player 5 Livre. The player claiming the Queen's Favor also becomes the start player for the next round.

Acquiring Resources can be done by any Employee, and allows players to stock up on the silk, lace and thread that will be needed to create various gowns and coats.

Tailoring a Garment is done by Masters and Journeymen. They will choose from one of the nine Design patterns, paying the cost of that design pattern and using the appropriate silk, lace and thread. After tailoring a garment the player will choose whether to rent out the garment to a patron at the Ball or sell the garment for income. If a player chooses to rent the garment it's placed rental side face-up on any vacant guest space in one of the five Halls on the board. The player who has the most patrons in a Hall will be awarded victory points at the end of the game.

Deputing an Employee allows a player to permanently remove one of their employee cards from the game. Not only does this help thin a players deck, it also grants a financial reward of 4/7/10 Livre depending on the level of employee as indicated on the card.

Hire a New Employee. Each round 4 new employees are available for acquisition, and can only be acquired by using a Master. These employees will offer additional bonus actions when used during the game. The cost varies from 0 - 5 Livre and is based on the number of Employee cards remaining. The card goes directly into a player's hand, so it can be used during the same round.

Funding a Decoration can be performed by any employee. There are numerous decorations in the palace that can be funded. Doing so will earn the player prestige points at the end of the game. Funding the fireworks decoration spaces on the balcony can be especially advantageous, as players will be able to move patrons to these locations at the end of the game and earn a considerable amount of prestige points.

A round ends with players collecting income, which has a base of five, but can increase by funding certain Decorations. Having a steady flow of income is necessary in order to accomplish the making of dresses, funding of decorations, and acquisition of resources and new employees. New Garment design patterns will be revealed along with new employee cards for the round. Players will choose 3 new cards from their draw deck to start the next round and play will continue in the same fashion.

After the 7th round, the game ends and a final scoring is conducted. Points are scored for remaining Livre, certain employee cards and last but not least; having majorities in the halls with patrons wearing your suits and dresses. The player with the most victory points is declared the winner.

This game is actually quite solid in its mechanisms, everything works together really well and that’s something I like a lot. This is a game that has so many good options and you can only do a few of them each turn, and that’s the kind of game I like quite a bit and that’s the kind of game Rococo is.
- Tom Vasel, The Dice Tower

This is definitely a very sharp very cool game, lots to think about, lots going on. Very cool theme, very fresh and very original. I think Rococo is actually pretty darn cool, it’s an area control game where the area control is actually fun!
- Richard Ham, Rahdo Runs Through

In Rococo I really enjoy feeling like I’m being pulled in all sorts of different directions at once when I’m making my choices and Jewelry Box definitely adds to the temptations. I love Rococo and so having more to do and more variations every time you start a game is fantastic for me. I would definitely recommend it.
- Tom Heath, slickerdrips

My gaming group really loves this game because you don't ever feel rushing and you can go at your own pace to determine what you want to do. Overall, dress making is indeed fun! Overall, I give Rococo a solid nine and a half out of ten, proving that dress making can be a great theme to a board game if using the proper mechanics!
- Antonio Guerra Gerdel

I think this game is superb. It has so much in it, so many choices and variance of how things will turn out. Now that I've played Rococo loads of times, I can say that I love this game and definitely think this is one of those games that I'll always have and bring out multiple times per year.
- Ken Savage (boardgamegeek.com)

This was a pretty fun game. I really thought the theme was fun, and I enjoyed the way the board looked at the very end with all of the dresses and brightly colored discs. The gameplay was fun because it combined a little of deck building, some area control, and even some economic gameplay in terms of deciding which investment is the most worthwhile.
- Brian Schwartz (boardgamegeek.com)

I adore games that present players with an abundance of choices, and Rococo excels in this department. There are tough choices involved in nearly every facet of the game

The Gryphon Bookshelf Series (GBS) is a pet project of the owner of Eagle-Gryphon Games, Rick Soued. The GBS started in 2008 and its focus was and continues to be on fast, friendly, fun family games with relatively short rules, and engagingly playable by players of 8+ years old in 30 to 60 minutes. At the end of 2020, we will be adding three or four more games to the GBS including titles from Stefan Dorra, Sid Sackson and Mike Fitzgerald. They will join a line-up of some of the best-known and loved designers who have already contributed games to the GBS series, including Reiner Knizia, Alan R. Gangster’s Dilemma (3-7 players) is a new game from designers Adrian Adamescu and Daryl Andrews (Sagrada, Speakeasy Blues) that will test your ability to fulfill the Mob Boss’ demands.

In Gangster's Dilemma, you play a gangster eager to satisfy the Mob Boss' demands. Each round, you will secretly choose to loot one of the city's hot spots, in hopes of eluding the cops, avoiding other gangsters, and grabbing crates, art, jewels, gin, and cash when possible. But the cops are on patrol at all times and they randomly search those same hot spots. If caught in the presence of another gangster, do you pay bribes to the cops, stay silent, or rat out your fellow gangsters? What a dilemma!

PRE-ORDER NOW! $24

Pre-Order Closes March 13th, 2020

HOW TO PLAY

In Gangster’s Dilemma, each player starts with an identical deck of Gangster cards, numbered 1-6 in their player color. One player randomly starts the game as the Cop and receives the deck of Cop cards, numbered 1-6. The goal of the game is to be the first player to score 21 or more points by collecting the right loot to trade in and fulfill the boss’ demands.

Each round, players will simultaneously choose a location to visit by selecting 1 of their 6 Gangster cards and placing it face-down in front of them. The player controlling the Cop will play 2 of their 6 Cop cards in an attempt to arrest Gangsters at the chosen locations. If Gangsters visit a location where no cop is present they are able to successfully loot that location, gaining 1 of the indicated loot tokens from that location, and splitting the money on that location with any other gangsters who also visited that location.

If the Cop visit the same location as one of the Gangsters, the Cop will take all of that Gangster’s loot except for their cash. If there are multiple Gangsters at a location with a Cop, the Gangsters will have to decide if they want to talk, stay silent or bribe the Cop. If everyone is silent, they quietly split the loot and are on their way, but if someone talks, they rat out the other Gangster’s at that location. If everyone talks, they are all busted.

After resolving each location, players will have the chance to fulfill one of the boss’ 3 current demands as long as they have the right loot. Fulfilling a demand will get the player 4/7/10 victory points depending on how difficult the demand was to meet. At the end of the round, the player controlling the Cop will pass the Cop cards to the player to their left, and close down any locations the Cop visited without making an arrest. The game ends once a player reaches 21 or more points.

Pre-Order Closes March 13th, 2020

HOW TO PLAY

Each round a player takes the role of Thief, and steals 1-3 paintings from the Museum Exhibit. The other players, as Detectives, will them try to spot the stolen painting(s).

To start, shuffle all the Painting Cards together into a face-down deck, then the Thief creates the Museum Exhibit by drawing the first 24 painting cards and placing them face-up in a display. Once all the cards are in place, the Thief turns over the sand timer and all Detectives have this time to observe the paintings.

When the timer runs out, the Detectives must close their eyes. The Thief then steals 1, 2 or 3 paintings from the Exhibit. The Thief then gathers the remaining painting from the Exhibit and discards them from the game. The Detectives keep their eyes closed, while the Thief draws additional paintings from the deck until he has 8 total, including the stolen paintings. The Thief then places all 8 paintings face-up in a row, and assigns each painting a number token. The Thief notes on their score pad which paintings were stolen.

The Detective now open their eyes, and try to determine which of the 8 paintings were stolen from the original Museum Exhibit. Each Detective secretly notes their guess(es) on their score pad, once all Detectives are ready their guesses are revealed. The Thief then reveals which paintings were stolen and Detectives score points for correctly determining the stolen paintings. The Thief will score points for for paintings stolen that are not identified by the Detectives.

The player to the left of the Thief becoming the Thief for the next round. Play continues this way with each player getting a turn as the Thief. After the final round, the player with the most points wins.

How to Solo Play Fleet: The Dice Game by BeyondSolitaire (CLICK TO VIEW)

Matt Riddle is a husband and father of 2 lovely teens. Employed by the man to keep our country safe, he keeps his sanity by designing board games you may or may not have heard of; playing video games you probably have heard of; and eating.

Ben Pinchback is an engineer by day as well as an avid gamer. He used to have hobbies, but now he has 5 kids. He designs games at night because he can't leave the house for fear of the monsters blowing it up.

Matt & Ben began designing games together when Ben approached Matt at work and suggested they design a game together. Later that day, they began discussing the original Fleet game over their lunch. The two have worked together since on a multitude of games including Eggs and Empires, Floating Market, Morocco and more. Many of their games have been published by and are available through Eagle-Gryphon Games. SHIPPING INFO

The shipping charges are based on weight of your entire order and are shown at checkout as they vary per country & region in addition to the final weight.

We will ship your orders, en masse, to our Fulfillment Partners around the world: in Canada, Asia Pacific, EU, UK, Australia and the US. Our Fulfillment Partners will then see that your orders are sent to you quickly and safely, regardless of where you live in the world. While we aim to have the shipments to each fulfillment partner shipped from China at roughly the same time, the speed in which each shipment reaches its regional fulfillment varies as does the speed with which each fulfillment partner can ship out all the pledges for their region. We will try to keep you updated as to the shipping and distribution status in your region or country, but we must ask that you remain patient and respectful during the shipping and fulfillment process.

NOTE: If the UK is no longer part of the EU, and does not remain in the Customs Union, at the time of shipment any extra taxes and duties will be the responsibility of the UK backers. It is possible for customs fees and/or tariffs to apply to any country outside of the country of origin for the shipment and we are not responsible for these Custom fees, taxes, etc. as it is simply not possible for us to know and anticipate these for you. This is true for countries such as Japan and Brazil among others.

*WE DO NOT SHIP TO: Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan

Our estimated delivery date is
by (or before) November 27th, 2020

At Eagle-Gryphon Games, we stand by our products, but sometimes issues do happen. Please contact our customer service department (customer-service@eagle-gryphon.com) with regard to any such issues within 90 days of receiving your copy of the game. We will always do our best through newsletter updates to keep you as informed as possible as to the status of your game(s). However, in this business some uncertain factors are beyond our control, such as holidays, customs, taxes and fees (mentioned above), factory quality control, inspection delays, inclement weather and dock strikes - to name just a few. Please understand we have little to no control over such factors. We assure you that you will be the first to know of any such developments as and if we learn them. Put simply: you will get everything we promise to you when you pledge to one of our Kickstarter projects, and it will be delivered to you in as timely a manner as possible, but there may be reasons beyond our control for delays and problems. Shipping issues are relatively uncommon, but they do sometimes occur. We double check all of your games for damage before sending them to you. However, there is a chance that your games may get damaged during shipping by the carrier. If your package is damaged, please contact us so we can assist you. We will not ship to Russia, the Ukraine and certain places in Asia and the rest of the world, except for specially-made arrangements wherein the customer takes the risk involved in receiving the package.

REFUND POLICY

If you apply for a refund after the end of the pre-order, we will only be able to refund 85% of the amount paid. The difference is the amount of the unrecoverable fees paid to process your order through CrowdOx and the logistics changes needed. In addition, if any part of your order cannot be delivered, then we will reimburse you the full cost of this component regardless of the date. Note: Once we have started to process and pack your order, refunds may no longer be available.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q1: My shipping fees show $999 or more. How do I fix this?
A1: If the shipping fee exceeds the limits of what we can ship you in one shipment, the fees will display as $999 or more. If you feel that what you have selected should not exceed this limit, please send an email to info@eagle-gryphon.com and our customer service will assist you.

Q2: Will Rococo: Deluxe Edition be an available Add-On in the Kanban EV Kickstarter campaign launching February 6th?
A2: Unfortunately, no. We have found that combining shipping across multiple projects doesn't result in a good experience -- either for us nor for you, the customer. As the result, these two projects will likely ship at different times and possibly be fulfilled by different partners around the world.

Q3: Will you be offering an upgrade pack for owners of the first edition of Rococo?
A3:
No. The previous contract holder, Eggertspiele, of the original production was purchased by Plan B Games. They chose to not reprint the game or allow us to reprint the game. As such, when the design rights reverted back to the designers, the rights to the art and graphic design of the game was retained by Plan B Games and cannot be used for this new production of the game. All new artwork and graphic design had to be created for a new printing of the game.

Q4: If I live in Canada and order a French edition, will it still be fulfilled from within Canada?
A4:
Yes, if you purchase the French edition and live in Canada, we will ship it to our Canada fulfillment partner with the English copies sent to Canada.
